WhatsApp to stop working on some iPhones, Android devices
Cleofe Maceda, Senior Web ReporterDubai: UAE consumers who are still using older versions of iPhones and Android devices will be at risk of not being able to chat on WhatsApp soon. The Facebook-owned instant messaging service provider will ditch support for handsets running older operating systems about two years from now, it has been confirmed. Nokia fans who are still using an S40 can also expect WhatsApp to stop functioning on their devices from December 31 this year. "Because we'll no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time," the company also said. It is not clear yet how many phone users in UAE will be affected, although shipment data suggest that older Android devices and iPhones have not been sold in the market since 2014 or 2016.
