as informed in BRUSSELS (Reuters) - France's information privacy watchdog may fine messaging application whatsapp apps if it doesn't comply with an order to bring its sharing of consumer information with parent firm Facebook (FB.O) into line with French privacy law. The CNIL told whatsapp apps did'nt have the legal Fundamental to share consumer information with Facebook and had violated its obligation to cooperate with the French authority. In October, European Union Union privacy regulators rapped whatsapp apps for not resolving their concerns over the messaging service's sharing of consumer information with Facebook a year after they premier issued a warning. The French regulator told which whatsapp apps had not properly obtained users' consent to start sharing their smartphone numbers with Facebook for "business intelligence" purposes. The regulator accepted which the transfer of consumer information for safety purposes seemed to be essential to the functioning of the application.
