as declared in The new WhatsApp picture-in-picture mode for video calling has been spotted in app version 2.17.265 running on the android O Developer Preview. With the PIP mode, WhatsApp users will get the convenience to continue the conversations via video chat while browsing through their text messages. Further it is unclear if the video chat will continue in PIP mode if users switch to other apps. This adds to the growing list of WhatsApp features released or spotted testing in 2017. As per a tweet by WABetaInfo, which has a good track record when it comes to details of forthcoming WhatsApp features, the PIP mode inside WhatsApp app was spotted on version 2.17.265 of the Android app and was turned on by default on Android O developer preview.
As it stated in WhatsApp now support picture-in-picture video calls on android O. And WhatsApp isn't the first app to support it, we've already seen Duo, VLC Beta, Play Movies, Chrome, and I'm sure plenty of other apps implement it. On Android O, when you tap back, the video shrinks down to a floating window and you can continue your call — with video — while also texting and using the app normally. WhatsApp was updated to version 2.17.265 on the beta channel yesterday and as most times, it didn't seem like the new version brought anything new to the table. But it turns out that this isn't the case this time; you just need to be on the newest and hottest version of Android to notice the change.
