"theverge" : WhatsApp update adds automatic albums and photo filters on iOS

as informed in WhatsApp got a few new features in an update today for iOS, adding photo filters, automatic albums in chats, and the ability to send quick replies to messages. Additionally, if you send multiple images or videos consecutively in a chat, they'll now be automatically grouped into a single album (as seen below) instead of a stream of multiple in-line images. The new features are available on iOS now; no android launch date has been given, but it's probable that they'll show up in the near future. The photo filters is probably the biggest of the three; it lets you apply a filter to a picture, video, or GIF before you send it. Right now, there are only five options: Pop, B&W, Cool, Chrome, and Film, but it's easy to imagine that WhatsApp could addmore in the future.

Adding more visual messaging options could help WhatsApp stay relevant with teens, who seem to be the demographic that use messaging apps the most. If you're a fan of group chats, you know keeping track of replies in the fast-moving conversations can be tricky, so WhatsApp has added a new quick-reply feature. In addition, the new album feature groups any four photos or videos into easily-digested layouts. Now you can addone of the five new filters to your imagery, with pop, black and white, cool, chrome and film ready to add more pizazz to your photos, GIFs and videos. Your friends can open the albums and swipe through the single posts, too.

WhatsApp is also now catching up a bit with Facebook's other apps by adding a few filters right in the camera. First up, if you send five or more photos/videos at once, WhatsApp will now automatically group them into an album. WhatsApp is adding three new features on today. There are only five at the moment, but they work with photos, GIFs, and videos, so that's neat. Tap and you'll get a full screen view of all the photos in an album, as shown above.
