"Next Web" declare : WhatsApp tests letting you share any file type

collected by :Andro Alex

as mentioned in There have been plenty of times I've wanted to share different file types through WhatsApp, such as APKs. WhatsApp is rolling out sharing of all file types! But for some reason, the company has long limited you to just a few specific file types, like PDFs, Word documents, speadsheets, and slides. We imagine that limitation is there to not overwhelm WhatsApp's servers with people sharing things like 4K movies. You can share a lot of things on WhatsApp: images, videos, audio, locations, and documents.

As it stated in Facebook-owned WhatsApp isn't really known for quickly adding new features, unlike Facebook-owned Instagram or even Facebook Messenger. But WhatsApp is currently testing some new functionality that is sure to be welcome by its many users. The new feature letting you share any file type is currently undergoing testing with a limited subset of users, and the rollout is very slow. When this goes live for everyone, you'll be able to send any type of file to your contacts or groups. Do note that you'll be limited to a maximum file size of 128MB on iOS, 100MB on android , and 64MB on WhatsApp Web.

WhatsApp will soon let you share any type of file
As it stated in

WhatsApp to let you share any file type through chat (beta)

Aside from all the document file types they allowed users to share starting last year (csv, doc, xlsx, pdf, rtf, etc), now any file type will be welcome. WhatsApp users, listen up! For now though, regular WhatsApp users should not hold their breath. Pretty soon, you will be able to send any file type through the messaging app, not just limited to pictures or mp3s or videos, but including documents and even APKs. But don't expect this to come to your app anytime soon, as for now, it is only limited to selected beta users.
