As it stated in The new WhatsApp Status feature allows users to share pictures, videos, and GIFs with their contacts, which will disappear after 24 hours. Unlike the other two features though, the new WhatsApp Status will incorporate the same end-to-end encryption enjoyed by the app's traditional messages. But the Facebook-owned company is beginning its transformation into a more social media-esque software with the launch of the new 'Status' feature. Facebook Live and Instagram Stories have been a runaway hit and the Instagram feature, in particular, has stolen a large chunk of Snapchat's user base. WhatsApp has initiated the roll-out of the new status feature in Europe and it will soon be made available to WhatsApp users on iOS, Android, and Windows platforms across the world.

as mentioned in WhatsApp new Status featureWhatsApp's Status comes with end-to-end encryptionThe Status feature would allow users to share pictures and videos with friends and contacts on WhatsApp. The new Status feature will start rolling out to WhatsApp users for Android and iOS. It's very similar to Snapchat's Stories, with the exception that WhatsApp has extended end-to-end encryption to the Status feature as well. WhatsApp announced that it started rolling out the new Status feature, eight years after the app was officially launched. Even before the messaging feature was added to the app, WhatsApp had a status section where users could specify what they were doing.

And it is just the latest Facebook company to do so – with everything from Instagram to Facebook's own app taking its competitors innovations. People will now be able to share photos and videos as "statuses", in a similar way to how stories work on Snapchat and now Instagram. But unlike the same tool for Instagram, only friends and contacts will be able to see whatever is posted using it. Rather than simply posting text, they will be able to add pictures that will show for all their friends – until they are automatically deleted. "We are excited to announce that, coinciding with WhatsApp's 8th birthday on February 24, we are reinventing the status feature," Mr Koum wrote.
