WhatsApp and Facebook aren't done copying Snapchat.According to a report by Mashable, Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is testing image-sharing features akin to those of Snapchat, or *cough* Instagram.The project, called 'Status,' was unearthed in recent beta releases of both the iOS and android/" target="_blank">android/" target="_blank">Android version of WhatsApp.

Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is experimenting with a new Status feature that lets users share mood-setting pictures and videos overlaid with other custom elements such as emoji, with the content disappearing 24 hours after it's shared — so basically a copy of Snapchat Stories.The test feature was spotted on Friday by BGR India which says Status sharing is only currently available to registered public beta testers of WhatsApp who are using a rooted android/" target="_blank">android/" target="_blank">Android or iOS device.We've reached out to WhatsApp with questions and will update this story with any response.

Following on from the launch of Stories on Instagram – a Snapchat style feature, it appears that WhatsApp could be launching a similar feature of their own.According to android/" target="_blank">android/" target="_blank">Android Authority, WhatsApp are currently testing a new feature that will be dubbed "Status" and it will be included in the latest beta version of the app available to both Android and iOS users.As you might imagine, the new feature is very similar to Stories and aims to allow users to share several different stories each day.
