Say 'allo to Allo - Google's WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger rival with Google Assistant powered by Artificial Intelligence
Lynsey BarberGoogle is jumping on the messaging bandwagon with a new cockney sounding app called Allo powered by artificial intelligence. The mashup between Apple Siri/iMessage/WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger/Snapchat might seem by some as a little late to the party - Facebook's Messenger and WhatsApp boast one billion users each and they dominate the world of messaging apps. Some suggest there can only be one chat app to rule them all as people already overloaded digitally only have so much room in their lives for multiple apps with the same function.
Google takes on Siri and WhatsApp with its new Allo messaging app

The highly regarded government transparency watchdog group, the Sunlight Foundation, said today that it is looking to combine its assets with some other group after failing to find a new leader. The search for an executive director has been going on for months, but no candidate could lay out a clear vision for the group's future. If the foundation finds no suitable merger partner it seems possible that it will shut down.
Google launches WhatsApp competitor Allo – with Google Assistant

Google has launched its latest mobile chat app, Allo, and with it Google Assistant – a chatbot that can be used in online conversations with friends. The messaging app, which is available for Android and the iPhone, has similar features to most other messaging clients: stickers, emoji, the ability to draw on images like Snapchat and the choice of group or one-on-one chats.Messages are not encrypted end-to-end by default – unlike on WhatsApp, which it will compete with – but can be switched to an incognito mode to do so and set how long they exist before they're deleted.
