Users have been outraged by the change, claiming Whatsapp has gone back on an earlier promise to protect dataWhatsApp has come under fire after announcing it will start sharing the phone numbers of its users with Facebook, its parent company.The move means WhatsApp users could soon start seeing more targeted ads on Facebook — although not on the messaging service itself.Now the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has said it is 'looking into' the changes WhatsApp has made to determine if is illegal in the UK.
