Facebook-owned WhatsApp to start sharing phone numbers with the social network
SILICON VALLEY — Messaging app WhatsApp, which encrypts all communication sent on the platform, is changing its strong stance on privacy by allowing its owner, Facebook, to access users phone numbers, the company said Thursday.In a blog post titled "Looking ahead for WhatsApp," the Mountain View company said it updated its Terms of Service for the first time in four years as part of "plans to test ways for people to communicate with businesses in the months ahead."
