WhatsApp's data love-in with Facebook probed by Spanish watchdog
WhatsApp's decision to "synchronise" data with parent company Facebook will face a Spanish probe.It comes after a German regulator recently ordered the Mark Zuckerberg-run company to kill the data it holds on millions of WhatsApp users in the country.Spain's data protection agency AEPD announced that it will investigate the new data-sharing strategy revealed by the messaging service in August.

A dramatic privacy about-face by messaging app WhatsApp this summer, in which it revealed an update to its T&Cs would for the first time allow the sharing of its user data with parent company Facebook, is getting the pair into hot water in Europe.This week Facebook was ordered to stop harvesting data on WhatsApp users in Germany by the Hamburg city DPA, which hit out at the controversial change to WhatsApp's T&Cs as both misleading to users and a breach of national data protection law.(Facebook disagrees, and is appealing the order in Germany.)

UPDATE: Sept. 30, 2016, 12:51 a.m. IST WhatsApp has issued a new statement in which it says it "will" comply with the order from the Delhi High Court.A WhatsApp spokesman said, "WhatsApp will comply with the order from the Delhi High Court.We plan to proceed with the privacy policy and terms update in accordance with the Court's order.
